During His righteous judgement of the world that perished, God perfectly plan the rescue of His chosen objects of grace. Today's text treats God's destruction of the godless one, and His deliverance of the graced ones!

Genesis 4:16, 25-26 God's record of the origins of human civilization is purposeful in both an anthropological and theological sense. His objective is to contrast the two lines of civilization which would dominate the course of all human history. Through God's infallible revelation, Cain's cursed and corrupted line is contrasted with Seth's chosen and consecrated line. This traces civilization from Adam up to Noah, and from the world that then was, to the world that now is!

Genesis 4:1 - 5:32; God's revelation of human civilization serves a different purpose than that of cultural anthropologists and secular sociologists. God reaches back much farther in time and penetrates much deeper in focus. The purpose is not merely to reveal the cradle of human civilization, but to disclose the condition of human civilization. By seeking human civilization in the past, we gain a deeper understanding of human civilization in the present. God traces human history along two genealogical lines - the way of Cain and the way of Seth!

Genesis 2 closed with a perfect man, living on a perfect planet, in a perfect place, with perfect provisions, enjoying a perfect purpose, supported by a perfect partner, having only one single perfect prohibition. Adam experienced and enjoyed a perfect paradise and only needed to submit one time to one restriction set upon him by his Creator. Genesis 3 commences with the Divine revelation explaining how Adam forfeited perfect paradise and brought depravity and death into the world now under bondage.
